My First FanMail Unboxing!

In an age where there's a subscription box for people of every interest - from indulging your pet cat to getting mail from serial killers (Google it!) - it feels good to support a personally curated, female-positive product. While I had heard of this box from many nerdy, female friends, I had yet to try it for myself...until this past month.

FanMail subscription boxes are bi-monthly, and each box includes at least one creation from a woman-run business. As FanMail says on their site, "made for lady geeks, by lady geeks". (Though you don't have to be a lady geek to enjoy these boxes!) FanMail is run by Rose and Jenny, two nerdy women who I have the pleasure of speaking to often. We run in the same circles, all attending conventions to sell our products and promote our businesses. I make a point of supporting geeky, indie endeavors, so I thought I was well-overdue in subscribing to this service.

Now that I've given you a bit of a run-down about what FanMail is and why I felt like I needed to try it, let's delve into the contents of the June box!

First glance at the June box upon opening.

When I unboxed the package, I let out a squeak of delight at the Pawnee Goddess tee and Dunder Mifflin tumbler. As I dug deeper, I found more goodies than I could have ever anticipated.

June's theme is comedy related. In addition to the ample branded FanMail swag (stickers, pin, pen, tote, and glasses), fandoms such as The Office, Psych, Mean Girls, Broad City, Friends, and Parks and Recreation are all represented in the Just For Laughs box. This box also includes two items from two different indie businesses - the "I'll Be There For You" greeting card set by temporaryplacesshop and the "Miracle Max" candle from Calliope Candleworks.

Upon my unboxing, I immediately had ideas for how to style these products. I cannot tell you how excited I am to wear my Broad City enamel pin to celebrate the show's return on August 23rd or just how close I came to tearing up (and I am not an emotional person) when seeing the coupling of the Dunder Mifflin reusable mug with a postcard depicting Pam's painting of the Dunder Mifflin offices - a direct callback to The Office series!
